These past few months my photography style has under gone a substantial change. I’m still dedicated to serving first & keeping photo shoots lighthearted. What has changed is that I’m focusing on brighter, dreamier portraits. So, it’s not a big change in that these elements were already part of my style but yet it is because I’m expanding on them & looking at lighting differently. Here are a few portraits from a recent shoot to give you an idea of what to expect:

This hashtag is all over instagram right now. It represents your most popular instagram posts in the last year. (Does it remind anyone else a little of Facebook’s year-in-review?)
Here’s how to get yours:
First, make sure your Pop Up Blocker is on! I tried to do this on my iPhone & I was BOMBARDED by ads. I couldn’t even get to the picture. 🙁
Next, go to 2015bestnine.com & enter your instagram ID. Hit the “GET” button & enjoy!

Until Next Time,
Here’s a little something to brighten up your day:
I wish every baby was welcomed into the world with such joy. What a world that would be!
Until Next Time,
The wait is over! Caty Dunlap Photography is officially open for business. I can’t describe how joyful I am. Already blessed with a First Birthday portrait session (sneak peek coming soon to Facebook) now I’ve just finished a maternity portrait planning session. A big thank you to my first clients Brandon & Phyllis for inviting me to shoot the birthday portraits yesterday. You’re so patient! I wish I could have controlled the weather for you. Jose & Alicia, I can’t wait to see you next week for your maternity portrait session. If today was any indication you’ll have me cracking up behind the camera.
I was flabbergasted with the response to a post on the Caty Dunlap Photography Facebook page last week. After posting two images of business card proofs I was working on many people chimed in not just with their vote for which card was better but with excellent reasons of why they preferred one over the other. It was so helpful! If you didn’t hear, the “less is more” proof beat the “photo on the back” business card. I definitely will ask for opinions again when I’m torn between options.
And since I can’t leave you without a photo, you’re the first ones to see a preview from Violet’s First Birthday Portrait. It’s not even on Facebook for a Sneak Peek yet!
Until next time,
… of mice and men oft go astray. Well, I planned & the plans did go astray. I found a talented artist on Etsy to design my logo that was supposed to be ready in two weeks. I added an extra two weeks of cushion time just in case but that time is up & the final logo file is not yet available. Opening Caty Dunlap Photography is a dream come true & all I want to do right now is go shoot something (I’m talking portraits, people!) I’m trying my best to open on February 1st so I’ve already been using my logo proof for lots of things (business cards, letterhead, website design etc.) The next few days are crammed with last minute preparations & I can’t wait to see what comes next. I wonder who my first client will be?
In the meantime, thanks to this beautiful weather we’ve been having I’ve been able to scout portrait locations & I’m charmed by different spots around town. One of the best parts about Austin is there is something for every type of interest you could have. Looking for a variety of backgrounds? Meadows, woods, streams, bridges, country-style, urban-twist… you name it Austin has it! Well, except snow. Lol. What’s your favorite spot to take pictures in Austin?
Until next time,
