Dancing Disney prince & princesses before my eyes! Everywhere I turn. I couldn’t believe it. Maybe in Fantasyland, the theme land where Walt Disney described as the land of, “timeless land of enchantment, the age of chivalry, magic and make-believe are reborn and fairy tales come true. Fantasyland is dedicated to the young at heart — to those who believe that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.”
Too bad I was in the shower after my day at Disneyland seeing things. I probably should’ve given myself a nap during my non-stop Disney day. Or reapplied sunscreen to more than just my face. How do kids do it? I fell asleep in the shower! And I’m an adult (most of the time). I drank lots of water. Fed myself. And still I collapsed at the end of the day. So, to all the parents who bring their kids to Disneyland…
I tip my hat to you. You’re AMAZING.
I’m one person & I collapsed by myself. But you, Rockstar Parents, no doubt took care of kids who are no doubt not at their best. Snicker. Snicker. I have 8 nieces & nephews so I can imagine what you go through. Even wonderful kids after walking for miles, waiting in lines & with all the non-stop adventuring they won’t be their magical selves at some point. God bless you Disney families!
SILVER LINING #2: ALTHOUGH I HAD TO SELL MY HOUSE THIS YEAR AFTER THE STORM THAT WAS 2018, I JUST HAD MY DREAMS COME TRUE WEEKEND!
My Dreams Come True Weekend started off with a bang! Meeting Ana Brandt let alone learning from her for 3 days was epic. When I learned that the airport I’d fly out of was only 20 minutes away from “the Happiest Place on Earth” I couldn’t resist staying one more night. I’ve never been to any of the Disney theme parks before (or any movie related theme parks, really).
But oh my gosh, how cute were the kids at Disneyland! From the little ones in their costumes to the big kids with their excitement. I did see some tantrums but it was because they played so hard! The little kids might have stumbled but they’d get right back up in their rush to keep playing.
I loved how the cast members, what all staff at Disneyland are called because they’re part of the show, would interact with the kids. The Evil Queen was spot on. Even though her character can be scary she nailed the delivery with the little ones. She’d lower herself to the ground (only for them, she is a queen after all).
“That’s okay, when you’re ready, we’ll have a chat. Don’t you know every woman is a queen? And we’re in charge. So, you tell them when you’re ready to talk to me. That’s you’re right.”
Shout out to my absolute favorite cast member, Mitzi! I will be doing a full post just on this amazing woman. As a PhotoPass Photographer she takes photos of guests to celebrate your visit to Disneyland. But she truly believes in “the Happiest Place on Earth” & she earned a role in my dreams come true weekend. Thank you, Mitzi, from the bottom of my heart! May you continue to rise in your career because, wow, you’re stellar.
Within 30 minutes of rope drop, I met the mouse in charge. Under Mickey’s house in Toontown is Mickey’s studio where he films his movies. With backstage access, I came on stage to give the mouse a big old hug. I was just overwhelmed by the generosity of the cast members creating this special moment for me.
As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I had two, continuous 3-month migraines last year (not counting the normal 16+ migraine days most months). I did find silver linings in 2018 but overall, 2018 kicked me down. And it kicked me down hard. If past Caty could see me now! If she could see the hope I have for the future. If this weekend has taught me anything it’s that dreams really do come true. They don’t come true all at once. And they don’t come true right now.
(Shocking, a Dave Ramsey quote, I know!)
I can’t believe I waited so long to visit “the Happiest Place on Earth”. From the moment you enter Disneyland in California it’s like walking into a Disney movie. Which movie? Well it depends on which theme land you enter. It’s truly an immersive experience where guests become part of the show. The cast members are key to the Disney experience & keep you feeling fresh despite waiting in line. Thank you all for making my dreams come true!
